Oundle International Festival is hugely grateful to the following organisations for their
support of Community Opera at Oundle in 2009:
Northamptonshire County Council, The Golsoncott Foundation, The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Foundation,
The Benham Charitable Settlement and the Constance Travis Charitable Trust.

Please come and join us! This is a great opportunity if you love to sing and would like to work alongside wonderful professional opera singers. Even if you have no experience we’d love to hear from you – come and see what it’s all about!
In July 2009 Oundle International Festival is putting on a production of this brilliant opera. It has many parts for amateur singers who will appear alongside nine professionals and a small orchestra. Two years ago the Festival produced a community opera for the first time: Jonathan Dove’s Tobias and the Angel; all those who took part found it a thrilling experience.
On Sunday 22nd March we are holding a Workshop and Auditions in the Great Hall of Oundle School. It is open to all – please come along to hear more about the opera and meet the Director, Alastair Boag, and the Music Director, Alexander Walker, and one or two of the professional singers. There will be a run through of the story and some of the music, a singing workshop, and at the end of the day we will conduct very informal auditions for those who decide they would like to take part.
Please register your interest for the free Workshop Day (see below).
We need singers for the choir (which does not appear on stage) and the children’s choir, and there are several small parts for amateur singers and dancers.
We shall also be looking for help with making costumes, set-build and lighting. If you would like to be involved, please contact us (see below).
Weekly rehearsals will start in April, with performances on 16th, 17th and 18th July. Participants will need to commit to attending at least 80% of all rehearsals.
