The New London Chamber Ensemble has a welldeserved
reputation for giving enthralling children's concerts. Their lively presentation engages young audiences right from the start, and with a programme based on Saint-Saëns' delightful Carnival of the Animals, complete with poetry by Ogden Nash, this is sure to be a memorable and magical introduction to classical music.

With a nod in the direction of the Festival's twin themes of Czech music and Anniversaries, this concert commemorates the deaths of both Bohuslav Martinu (50th) and Louis Spohr (150th). The New London Chamber Ensemble and Friends (including members of the award-winning Dante Quartet) unite in these two composers' magnificent nonets. Martinu's work was premièred in July 1959, alongside Spohr's Nonet, one of his most important and popular works. A rare opportunity to hear this wonderful music.
