COMMUNITY OPERA FOR OUNDLE
An opportunity to take part in Jonathan Dove's TOBIAS & THE ANGEL
Please come
and join us! This is a great opportunity
if you love to sing and would like
to work alongside professional singers
- previous experience of singing
is not necessary.
In July 2007 Oundle
International Festival is putting on
a production of this inspiring community
opera. The composer, Jonathan Dove,
will already be known to many local
people for ‘In Search of Angels’ which
he wrote for Peterborough Cathedral
several years ago.
We need two choirs:
one unison (which will appear on stage
acting) and one SATB (which will be
singing offstage). There is additionally
an opportunity for three or four local
experienced tenors or basses to take
a more prominent role.
We shall also be
looking for help with making costumes,
set-build and lighting . If you would
like to be involved, please contact
us (see below).
The Director is Alastair
Boag, Music Director Alexander Walker. All principal parts will be
taken by professional singers from
the recent English Touring Opera or
Young Vic productions of Tobias, including
Maureen Brathwaite, James Laing, Omar
Ebrahim and Roderick Earle.
Rehearsals will take
place in May, June and the early part
of July, with performances on 15th,
17th and 18th July. Informal auditions
will take place on 29th or 30th March
in Oundle.
