Sorry, this concert is now sold out.
Built around 1130, The Manor in Hemingford
Grey is one of the oldest continuously
inhabited houses in England. It
is also a place of inspiration,
having been rescued from semi-dereliction
and then lovingly restored in 1939
by the writer and painter, Lucy
Boston. The moated house, set 20
yards from the Great Ouse, is a
step back in time that captures
almost nine centuries of family
conversations. A collection of
Lucy’s beautiful patchwork
quilts is also on display, and
the four acre garden, where she
worked until her death in 1990,
aged 97, is a delight in itself;
beds of over 200 old-English roses
are complemented by rare irises
and scented shrubs.
The tour will be conducted
by Diana Boston, Lucy’s daughter-in-law,
offering a special insight into this
magical place.
Tea (including
sandwiches, scones and cakes) at
the Village Hall in Hemingford Abbots
is included in the visit.
This tour is not suitable
for people who cannot manage stairs.
The coach will be
back in Oundle at approximately 7pm |
