Heavenly Harmonies
Stile Antico is a
group of twelve young British singers
fast gaining recognition as being amongst
the most original and exciting new
voices in the field. Their first recording
for Harmonia Mundi has been awarded
the prestigious Diapason d’Or;
critics have described it as ‘absolutely
ravishing… an extraordinary
recording’; ‘a beautiful
disc, rendered with dignity, purity
and understanding’.
The masterly simplicity
of Thomas Tallis's Nine Tunes for Archbishop
Parker's Psalter is juxtaposed with
the most sumptuous of Elizabethan polyphony
by William Byrd, highlighting the contrasting
approaches to setting the music of
the English church.
Having collaborated
extensively with Sting in 2006 on his
project Songs from the Labyrinth, Stile
Antico will this year undertake a three-week
European tour with the singer.
