Thierry Mechler It was in 2000 that we last
heard Thierry Mechler play
the superb romantic organ of Peterborough Cathedral,
shortly before the instrument
was damaged by fire. His 2007 programme on the restored
organ offers 20th century
French masterworks and
improvisations inspired by
The Book of Revelation.

Thierry is Professor of Organ at the Cologne Hochschule, and in huge
demand as a passionate virtuoso and charismatic teacher.

Maurice and Ian are successful but ageing actors, whose conversation revolves around theatrical shop-talk and the infirmities of septuagenarianism. Ian is fearful that death is just around the corner, so he agrees to let his niece's daughter Jessie move in to his flat to care for him. Jessie turns out to be a provincial girl in her early twenties, hard-drinking and rude, but Maurice sees something else in the girl, a potential for humanity which blossoms under his gentle guidance. Something else blossoms, for Maurice, as well: romantic love for a girl fifty years younger. Surprises follow all round. Starring Peter O’Toole, Oscar nominated for his role, and Leslie Phillips.

Contains very strong language.
