Sorry, this concert is now sold out. This
year sees the tercentary of organist
Diderik Buxtehude (1637-1707), whose
dramatic musical mannerisms embody
the North German stilus fantasticus;
his influence upon the youthful JS
Bach was immense. The baroque colours
of the Festival organ at the Church
of the Most Holy Name of Jesus prove
ideal for Buxtehude’s eccentric
music, offered in a programme which
also highlights works by Bach
and Bach’s other great mentor,
Georg Böhm.
The start of
this recital will be delayed by up
to ten minutes if the previous concert
over-runs.
Recital ends at
approximately 10.30pm |
